Books I recommend, words and sayings to live by, etc
On this page you'll find lists of books and great sayings and quotations.

Two sayings/quotations that I try to take to heart are "Carpe Diem" Latin for "Sieze the Day" and "Illegitimi non carborundum" which is improperly translated Latin for "Don't Let the Bastards Grind You Down."  Other great sayings/quotations will be posted here later as a link.

Some say I'm a voracious reader and that I read all the time.  That's probably true.  I usually have about 3 books I'm reading seriously at any one time.  Some of my favorite authors are Joseph Wambaugh, Tom Clancy, Paul Maier, Doug Kelley and L.D. Alford.  Any of their books are great.

My reading habits tend to be those of a "subject-obsessive" reader, focusing on certain subjects for several books at a time.  Certainly history, politics, law, and certain current events are always of interest to me.  Below are links to subject lists of titles I've read and recommend:

Middle East issues        Irish Stuff        Leadership Topics        Christian Topics        Spaceflight
Founding Fathers/Constitutional History        U. S. Civil War         WW2        VietNam       Biographies
Crime/Legal works        British Stuff      Other Historical Topics

This was written by my friend Lionel Alford.  From the "Full Disclosure" line down, he's describing his own past, but above that is the best foundation for rational belief in Christ I've ever heard. This is the best foundation for need for religion I've ever heard.
